Compcrete opened for business in November 1994.
The prime area of concentration was in the field of third and fourth party computer printer repairs and maintenance, which went onto the supply, repair and maintenance of PC's and other related computer equipment.
Compcrete are still active in these areas, with TCM Small Systems being a major business partner in the printer arena, and Nashua being a key client in the PC field.
Currently Compcrete have the expertise to supply, configure and install all the above equipment, from basic desktop printers to complete networks.
In Early 1999 it was decided to diversify into the electronic security arena, in the fields of Access Control Systems, Alarm installations, CCTV installations & Fire Detection! (including all hardware and software), this is the area where the majority of our concentration lies.
Compcrete has witnessed the continued growth of the Security Industry taking form into what it is today; a highly technical field.
Compcrete has continued to stay ahead of technology by taking a keen interest in new product developments and industry trends to ensure we can provide our customers with the information they require to make the relevant choices on their security.
Four years ago we decided to explore the field of biometrics because of the close link to both the electronic security and computing industries, as well as the belief that Biometrics is going to replace most existing security systems in the future.
Intensive research was conducted into the various options available. This research included overseas visits to numerous trade shows and suppliers to analyze suitable products on the market.
One of the results of these studies was that the TouchStar Biometric Fingerprint device & iFace device would be the ideal solution for the Time & Attendance and Access Control applications required by the South African Market.
By mid 2001 Compcrete was awarded the exclusive distribution rights for TouchStar products in Africa.
Current fully operational reference sites include: Afrit (Pty) Ltd, Big Save Waltloo, Brakpan Spar, Coin Security, Comet Fresh Meats, DC Northern Cape Abattoir, Extreme 16, Kansai Colourants, La Verna Private Hospital, LT Inc Attorneys, MacSteel, Madison Steel, Meadow feeds, Nokia, North-West University Mafikeng Campus & Vaal Triangle Campus, PNFS, Proline Panelbeaters, Ren-Forms, SA Composite Hoses, Safropa, Samancor, Segals Metals, Techniflex & Vodacom to name a few and the roll-out of the service stations for Total S.A. We have pilot sites from corporate establishments to the mining industry on final approval, to allow for the evaluation of the system in different environments.
Many of these sites required special features, for which Compcrete adapted and integrated with existing systems.
